Our journey began in 2014 in the vibrant city of Doha, Qatar, where fate brought us together while working for Kempinski Hotels. Daria was busy in her role, while Jamie visited occasionally for business. Although we had a friendly encounter, we were both focused on our careers, unaware of the wonderful connection that was to bloom in the future.

As the years passed, we would hear each other’s names now and then, yet we remained on different continents. That all changed in 2021, when our paths crossed again at the Kempinski Palace Engelberg in Switzerland, where we finally worked in the same country. It wasn’t love at first sight, but it didn’t take long for us to grow fond of each other, especially after a fun salsa lesson with our friend Paola, which sparked our affection.

We were busy opening a hotel but found little moments to escape together, creating beautiful memories in places like Venice, Mykonos, Muscat, and Ibiza. While Jamie originally planned to move to Cayo Coco, Cuba, in spring 2022, Daria felt that Engelberg wasn’t the same without Jamie, so she made the leap and transitioned to a job in Sargans. Just as luck would have it, Jamie returned to Switzerland with a new role in Davos, only a short 45 minutes from Daria’s workplace.

On July 24th, 2022, the real adventure began as we moved in together! We had the joy of meeting each other’s families in Berlin and London, and in the heart of winter, we celebrated our second Christmas and New Year’s Eve together. Our travels took us to many breathtaking places - Estepona, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Dubai - while within Switzerland, we stumbled upon hidden gems like Ascona, Arosa, and the breathtaking Jakobshorn, where we hiked 26 km (an impressive feat for two beginners!).

As our third Christmas and New Year approached, we began the exciting search for our first home together. We believe our dream house is out there, waiting for us to restore its beauty in Switzerland. In pursuit of new adventures, we spent two unforgettable weeks in Japan, exploring Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, and finally the stunning shores of Okinawa.

It was on April 20, 2024 - a day that holds a special significance for us as it is Daria's parents’ wedding anniversary - that Jamie proposed while gazing out at the ocean. Now, we can’t wait to say “I do,” create our dream home, and begin our family together.
